SIEM REAP CITY AND ITS SWEET PEOPLE

You can set aside a night to watch the Apsara dance in Siem Reap and taste the amazing food served while watching. The Apsara dance is a traditional Cambodian dance that has been around for over a thousand years. Born in the Angkor Wat Temples, these world-famous Apsaras represent the beauty and intelligence of Khmer women. These dancing goddesses, dazzling with their beauty, are identified with the Khmer culture. There are nearly 2,000 carvings depicting Apsara dancing goddesses in the Angkor Wat Temples. According to legend, a native monk named Kampu, married an apsara dancer named Mera and they were given the name Kampumera. Their descendants were called Khmers, and Kampuchea is the old name of Cambodia.

Cambodia Bar Street offers great opportunities to drink cocktails and listen to live music. The house we stayed in was close to Bar Street but in a quiet area, run by a sweet couple. We felt at home. Also, our room was very well designed, clean and spacious. It was also very enjoyable to play games and sing songs with our host's 2 daughters. Our tuk tuk driver Makara was a very, very good young Cambodian. In short, Siem Reap became our own home.
