Mirissa is a seaside town, the pearl of the southern coast of Sri Lanka. It is famous for its deep blue ocean, beautiful beaches, palm trees and fun nightlife. This sweet town offers surfing, diving, whale watching and many tourist activities, but it can be crowded and expensive when you go in season.
Coconut Tree Hill and Parrot Rock Bridge are must-see attractions in Mirissa. You can also spend your day sunbathing or splashing in the waves on the beach.
Galle, Sri Lanka’s gateway to the West, is considered a jewel for Sri Lanka. The historic port city of Galle Fort, where people and nature unite, offers an architectural art story. The streets and structures reflecting Dutch culture have been added by Sri Lankans with their own colors and styles. The charming old city’s art galleries, interesting shops and streets full of boutique cafes, wonderful restaurants, have offered us a very different taste in Asia.
There are museums and beautiful churches within the castle walls in Galle. The clock tower and the Dutch church are worth seeing. Other structures to visit are the Groote Kerk, the Old Dutch Hospital, the National Maritime Archaeological Museum and the Church of All Saints. The castle walls become a place where both locals and tourists can enjoy the beautiful view of the city and the sea, especially at sunset. The white lighthouse on the southeast side of the castle is also one of the iconic structures of the castle and I can say that it is a place you should not leave without taking photos. 🙂 The seashore is right in front of the castle walls and there are many locals, especially, who swim in the sea here.
We stayed at Mama's Place hotel in Mirissa. It's right on the beach. It's a great feeling to get up in the morning and go swimming.
